And there goes 2016, welcome to 2017 and a very happy new year.
Cutting to the chase, my december tally for dividends came in at $1278.54. This was a slight improvement over ’15 December equivalent. The total for the year came in at $13314.37, this is was roughly where i’d hope to be and approximately a 40% improvement in annual dividends.
I’ve set myself a lofty goal of $20,000 in annual dividend income for 2017, a good chunk of this is already booked in if i don’t sell my current positions. A couple of interesting opportunities have come up which may or may not help me meet or exceed this target, i’ll know in 2 months or so.
I don’t see the market doing anything too crazy, much of the tax discount that has been preached in the US Elections, i >feel< it is baked in but we’ll see. We’ve been going sideways to slightly up for a long time, we’re certainly not at nosebleed hysteria levels like 2000. That said, i will still be hedging when the vix gets down to 10-11 ish esp if i feel the market has surged up too much in a short space of time.
The 20th of Jan and beyond is going to be interesting, roll the dice and watch the herd. I will be managing my risk accordingly and trying to stay clear of knee-jerk adjustments to my portfolio based on media bs.
I hope your investing is treating you well
