While i speculate on the short-term with options, futures and the like, my dividend fund has grown once again and this February i managed to bring in $1145.65 in dividend income alone which is a record for me. I usually get around $400 to $600. The reason why this was considerably higher was due to a convergence of dividend payers in the month – for example VOD ( Vodafone ) and POT ( Potash ) contributed to almost 40% of that amount.
In Feburary 2013 when i had just started with the fund i pulled in $143.96 so it is around an 8x increase which is a great feeling to see!
I was behind on my contributions in my registered accounts for the last several years so i have been playing aggressive catch-up. I had to spend the bulk of 2013 putting every spare bit of cash i had into those accounts which is why the amount per month has grown rapidly. I have about 2 years left to max out the contributions before i am back to normal. Around halfway into the year, i get my rebate from the government which i then re-roll back into the registered accounts – this will create another surge in 2H of dividend income. I am expecting my final tally for 2014 to be around twice what i received for 2013, around $7000 to 8000$ approximately in income. We’ll see how that goes.
